We would like to introduce you to our highly qualified teaching faculty we have at SJ Dance Studio. Get to know your teachers and take a look at their qualifications and training history.
SJ dance offers our students the best opportunity for quality dance training but also the latest choreography. Our teachers always keep up to date with what's going on in the industry by regularly traveling to different states, to attend workshops with leading choreographers from around the world. All of our teachers hold a current working with children's blue card.
Miss Samantha Howcroft, Director
Samantha Howcroft is the principal and Director of SJ Dance Studio. Samantha has had a great passion for dance since an early age and it’s had a massive impact on her life, she started classes from the age of four with a lifelong dream of one day opening up her own studio, teaching and sharing her love for dance with others. There’s no doubt Samantha has excelled in her dancing, from the age of 15 she started teaching and choreographing for different primary schools, high schools and dance studios around the Sunshine Coast. At age 16 she trained full time for 2 years with Queensland Dance and Performance College meanwhile also completing year 11 and 12. She received her Diploma in Dance and Grade 12 School Certificate and went on to teach until she was 19. For four years Samantha has been involved with a leading national entertainment agency, as a paid contactor performing around QLD for major events and shopping centers. Miss Samantha has been accepted into multiple Full time Dance companies in Melbourne and Sydney but was offered a scholarship for “Jason Coleman, Ministry Of Dance”, she took this offer and trained in Melbourne for 9 months to gain as much knowledge as she could about the dance industry. From their Samantha felt inspired and motivated to make her lifelong dream a reality, she moved back to Sunshine Coast and is committed to succeeding in her dream. Miss Samantha is a committed, talented and an encouraging young dancer, teacher and choreographer hoping to pass on as much as she can to her SJ Family.
Miss Jodie Holcombe, Studio Manager & Teacher
Miss Jodie is a highly respected and passionate dancer, teacher and choreographer. Dance has been a big part of Jodie’s life since the age of nine and showed great potential since day one, this is where she found her obsession and love for the performing arts. Jodie continued to dance and train for 12 years and during this time studied and completed syllabus exams in RAD Ballet, CSTD Jazz and Glenn Wood Tap, receiving remarkably high results (Honors Plus). Jodie has many years of experience working within teaching and contracted dance performance work state wide and training with elite national and international choreographers and teachers.
At age 15 Jodie undertook her
Full time studies where she met Samantha, training every day for 2 years
to receive her qualification for a Diploma in Dance with Queensland Dance and Performance College, once she completed her Diploma she stayed training and studied for her professional year. Since then, Jodie has been working for a children’s entertainment agency as well performing at events and shows around QLD.
Miss Majella, Teacher
Majella danced in Bundaberg and Hervey Bay since the age of 3, studying all genres of dance and performing arts and completed all of her Tap/Jazz/Acrobatics/Ballet and Theatrical exams within the CSTD Syllabus. Most recently she completed her CSTD Tap Teachers Certificate and in 2013 was awarded her full CSTD Tap Teachers Diploma.
Majella has performed at various charity, cooperate and promotional events throughout Australia including performing as an Acrobatic Fairy for A Mid Summer Night’s Dream touring show, Melbourne. She has held workshops and choreographed for numerous studios as well as competed at eisteddfods throughout QLD.
Majella moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2011, since then she has continued to perform and hopes to keep teaching for years to come.
Mr Jarrad, Teacher
Jarrad Cramp ARAD | Solo Seal
Training as an afternoon student and performer in all genres from the age of 10-14yrs whilst gaining his majors in Cecchetti, Jarrad travelled and trained at numerous full time programs including the Australian Ballet School. After his training at the ABS, he completed all his majors in RAD along with his Solo Seal.
His highest achievements by then: NSW RAD Bursary Winner, Finalist in the McDonald Ballet Scholarship Sydney, Finalist International Genee Awards Canada, Semi Finalist Prix De Lausanne Switzerland. Granted scholarships offers from all over the world, Jarrad took up a full scholarship with the English National Ballet, London UK & toured with the company.
Returning home, Jarrad found a passion for teaching and choreographing which led him to opening his own school in 2008.
Gaining his teaching qualifications with both the RAD & Cecchetti, his teaching methods is built upon a strong foundation in classical ballet and strong belief in versatility.
Along side full time teaching, freelance choreographing & currently in the stages of releasing a classical contemporary syllabus, Jarrad enjoys his time travelling to adjudicate and spreading his knowledge and wisdom of dance.
Miss Brooke, Teacher & Administration
Brooke works alongside Jodie in our administration department.
She has been dancing since the age of 5 doing Hip Hop and danced at the House of Sole for a few years competing in competitions and taking advanced classes and workshops. She has been teaching for 3 years now and has a great knowledge of a variety of hip hop styles including Krump, House, Whacking, Popping and locking, break dance and many others.
Brooke also has a passion for Jazz, acting and musical theatre! She is very keen to pass her knowledge on to our SJ Dance Students.
Miss Alysha, Teacher
Alysha found her passion for dancing when she was 5 and began to love ballet and take it more serious at age 11.
She qualified for her Cert 2, Cert 3 in dance and completed and passed RAD ballet exams, intermediate and advanced 1.
Alysha trained at Classical coaching Australia in Brisbane then was offered a scholarship for training at the Hamburg ballet school in Germany.
Alysha finished her training with the Queensland ballet pre professional program.
She also trained and took classes with the Royal ballet school, Paris Opera ballet school and Hamburg ballet company.
Alysha competed in the Prix De Lausanne, making the top 10!
She also competed in the Youth America Grand Prix in New York and becoming a finalist
Alysha toured and performed with the Hamburg ballet to many countries and cities.
She was offered a seasonal contract for the ballet Giselle with the Het/Dutch National Ballet Company in Amsterdam.
Also offered a year contract with Jette Parker Young Artists in the Queensland Ballet.
In 2018 Alysha began coaching back on the Sunshine Coast and found her passion for helping young determined students with technique, strength/flexibility and reaching their goals as professional dancers/ballerinas.

Miss Abbey, Teacher
Lyrical / Contemporary
Abbey started her dancing journey at the age of 3 in a small town in Sydney. At the age of 13 she
became one of the first students at SJ Dance. Miss Sam helped her find her passion in dance
and mentored her through the next 3 years at SJ.
She completed her Certificate III in Dance at SJ in 2018. She had the opportunity to be a backup
dancer in a music video and a dancer on a cruise ship with some amazing performers. She has
worked with and been trained by high end choreographers and professional dancers
from all over the world. She was offered a full-time position at one of the leading full-time
dancer studios in the Gold Coast ‘Dynamite.’
She has a love for teaching and mentoring younger students, to teach them everything she has
learnt over the years and more. With many more years of learning and creating amazing
routines, she hopes she can get to experience her students dance journeys as Miss Sam and Miss Jodie
did with her.
Miss Nicole, Teacher
Vocal training, Musical Theatre & Tap
Nicole holds a Certificate II in musical theatre from WAAPA and a Bachelor of Musical Theatre from BAPA. Since graduating from University in 2015 she has performed professionally in musicals, opera’s, children’s touring productions, corporate events, as well as working as a director, and choreographer.
On top of having her own performing career, Nicole has worked extensively as a teacher! specializing in Musical Theatre, Tap & Vocals, but can also teach Classical Ballet and Jazz, Lyrical & Contemporary.

Miss Bek, Teacher
Bek has been teaching/assisting with Acrobatics for over 6 years. Bek is a fully qualified acrobatics teacher. She has completed multiple acrobatic arts training courses over the years. She has been dancing since the age of 4 and has trained in acrobatics since she was 15. She has a passion for making sure that learning new skills are taught safely and without risk of injury when a student is ready.
Bek is also very passionate about making sure student’s love their classes and have an enjoyable time. She choreographs solos for students in many different styles including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary and Acrobatics which have placed at competitions. She loves the SJ Dance Studio environment and loves working with the students here!
Miss Vanessa, Student Teacher
Introduction to dance & Acrobatics.
Vanessa has been dancing at SJ for 5 years. She has been assistant teaching for 3 years now and has a great understanding all all styles including jazz, acrobatics, contemporary. lyrical, tap and hip hop. She is very passionate about dance and is great with helping students reach their full potential. She is very much loved here at SJ by all the staff and students!
